Tips for Photographing your pet

A great picture is very important. The better the photograph, the better the portrait. I need a clear photo of your pet, so I can see details such as eyes, nose etc. The viewfinder should fill your pet. Using a regular smart phone camera is fine, but if you have a regular camera, that would be best.

  • If you own a dog, it is best to photograph him/her outside in overcast natural lighting. No sunlight on the animal, if possible. Be sure the sun is behind you and your dog is facing you. You can also photograph your dog in a bright room with your back to the window and your pet facing you. Be sure to photograph your pet at his/her’s eye level.
  • If you own a cat, take a photograph in a bright room or outside (if possible). Make sure your back is facing the window and your cat is facing you. Be sure to photograph your pet at his/her’s eye level.
  • For memorial portraits, I will work with the best photos you have.
